Architectural work is often large scale, production timelines demand speed. I try and create the entire work in three passes, First pass roughly lays out the entire piece using crude hand made aluminum 'rakes". Second pass refines forms. Third pass cleans and tightens surface for clean molding. A certain quality of roughness is actually good on large scale pieces.
I prepare a full scale drawing for commissioned work in addition to preparatory drawings to give the client a full understanding of what the sculpture will look like.
